Thank you for your response! I did find out that in MA, you HAVE to use a "licensed agency" for your home study no matter where you adopt from, which unfortunately leaves no wiggle room there.

The medical reports are not accurate - you also should bear in mind that the children on hosting trips are not necessarily available for international adoption. Hosting and adoption are not linked; indeed, I have heard it said that it is illegal to reveal the adoption status of children on hosting...

I can only say good luck. We came home after four months in country with no child. We also asked for a child under 5. Luckily my husband negotiated only handing over 1/4 of the money upfront before the SDA meeting where they requested all of the money - so at least our savings wasn't gone. But...
